PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Lewis Young, Sr., 86, longtime resident of Presque Isle, passed away March 17, 2018 after a brief illness at Madigan Nursing Home in Houlton. He was well-known, loved and respected throughout the state of Maine, as well as many other places. He was born on Nov. 6, 1931 in Newport, RI. He was the son of Willliam Frederick Young and Dolly Smith Young of Rhode Island.

He is predeceased by both of his parents as well as two brothers William (Sonny) Young of Texas and Paul Young of Florida. He is also predeceased, just one year, by his devoted wife, Evelyn Hill Young. They were childhood sweethearts and were married for 63 years.
He is survived by his son, Lewis Young, Jr. and wife Kathy Young of Westfield. He is predeceased by his other son Leonard Young. He is also survived by three beautiful grandchildren who loved him dearly and 5 great-grandchildren.
He served in the USAF for nearly 23 years. Lewis was a longtime member of the Presque Isle Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he served as an elder. He spent the last 20 years of his life in the full-time ministry teaching the good news to others.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Houlton Road, Presque Isle on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 2 p.m.
