CATHERINE ARMOUR, SMYRNA MILLS – Catherine Armour, 97 years old, a longtime resident of Smyrna Mills, Maine, died on Sunday, April 8th, 2018, at the Houlton Regional Hospital after a short illness. She was born on February 4, 1921, in Northampton, New Brunswick, to Harry Elwood and Lucy (Bryant) Grant.
Catherine married Philip Armour in Woodstock, NB, in 1942. They lived in Bristol, NB, for several years where they started their family. In 1959 she and Philip moved their family to Smyrna Mills, ME. Catherine was a lifelong member of the United Church of Canada in Northampton and then the United Methodist Church in Smyrna Mills. She was an avid quilter who was still working on quilts at the time of her passing.
She is survived by her three children, Elizabeth (Lawrence) Taylor of Castro Valley, CA, Elwood (Alice) Armour of Street, MD, and John Mark (Marada) Armour of Oakfield, ME; nine grandchildren, John W. Armour, Emily Foley, Annie Armour, Phillip Armour, James Armour, Michael Armour, William Immel, Sarah Immel, and Matthew Immel; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, Philip, died in 2005, and her brother, Clarence E. Grant, in 2011.
Friends may call from 6 – 8 p.m. (Atlantic time) on Wednesday, April 11th, 2018, at Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB, Canada, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12, at 1 p.m. (Atlantic time).
