Mars Hill Rotary welcomes guide and survival instructor

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, July 17 at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center.  The guest speaker was Patrick Bruce of Ludlow. Patrick is the owner of Adaptable Arms and is also a survival instructor.  He is a hunting guide and is the owner of Moose Call Expeditions.

Patrick is a gunsmith and works on existing firearms under the regulations for firearms dealers.  He does a lot of work on family pieces and also works on self defense training.

Patrick is a veteran of both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.  Married with three children, he is a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Monument Lodge and Shriners.

Library happenings

Events happening at the Walter T. A. Hansen Memorial Library in Mars Hill include the following: Looking for LEGOs — the library hold a LEGO party on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.  Anyone with LEGOs that they are willing to donate to the library is asked to call 429-9625.

A Mad Hatter Tea Party will be held on Saturday, July 28, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

The library is doing a Bikes for Books again this summer.  For more information, contact the library at 429-9625.

Homecoming 2018

Plans are in the works for Homecoming 2018.  Many events will be returning with some new ones also planned.  Save the dates of Aug. 9-12 and come enjoy all the festivities.

NOTE: Those planning on being in the parade are asked to register as soon as possible by stopping at the Mars Hill Town Office to get a registration form or by calling Kathy at 540-6325.

Thursday night will be the ice cream social at the Aroostook Health Center.

Friday will see events at the Fire Station and park area including the Rotary Car Hop dinner, music, vendors, a movie, paint and sip and a special “no-bake” baking contest for kids. Bingo will also be on tap at the Legion

Saturday will see breakfast at the Legion, and a parade followed by events at the high school including the Junior High Soccer Tourney, music, vendors, car show, book sale and more.  Anyone wishing to set up a booth is asked to contact Kathy at 540-6325. Aroostook Health Center

Upcoming events for the week of July 25 -31 include: Wednesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Music Exercise at 9:30 a.m. and Cribbage Games at 1:30 p.m.   Thursday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., Horse Racing at 1:30 p.m. and Bridgewater Free Baptist at 6:30 p.m. Friday will feature Five Card Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Karaoke with Larry, Larry and Bill at 1:30 p.m.  Saturday will feature Bingo with Paula at 1:30 p.m. Sunday will have televised church in the day room. Monday will feature Nails with Shallie and Melissa at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Northern Maine Fair Outing at 3:00 p.m.

Music Night

Thursday Night Music is back in Bridgewater.  From 6 – 9 every Thursday, stop by the Historical Building for some rousing music – to dance to or just sit and enjoy listening to.

Bingo

The William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill is hosting BINGO on Saturday evening beginning at 7 p.m. at the Post. There are cash prizes. Refreshments are available.
