Good turnout for benefit supper

WASHBURN NEWS

by Tomi Henderson

Well over 200 people gathered at the Castle Hill Advent Christian Church on Saturday, Jan. 14, to help support Elizabeth Richardson in her efforts to fight lung cancer. Guests enjoyed a spaghetti feed which included salad, rolls, cheeses, sauces, pickles, relishes and a wide array of desserts. All the food and drinks were provided by local businesses, stores and restaurants, along with local residents and family members.

Throughout the event good compliments were heard by all on how delicious the food was. Guests had the full range of the church, both upstairs and down, for seating and the place was full the majority of the time! The family truly appreciated all the efforts done by church members and others who assisted in the preparation and setup for this undertaking. Elizabeth especially enjoyed sharing time and visiting with all those attending. She will be going to Boston for treatment within the next month — likely carrying this show of support with her in spirit.

Those from the immediate family attending included Elizabeth ’s parents Jeff and Alice Curtis and T. J.’s dad Jeff Winslow, T.J. Winslow and the couple’s daughter Alexis. Also enjoying the meal were grandparents “Chum” Richardson and Carl and Wilma Winslow. Three special cousins made the long trek up from Wytopitlock to show their support for Elizabeth and her family. A big thank you goes to all who attended to show your support!
