The Mars Hill United Methodist Women met in the church vestry on Monday, Dec. 3, for their annual Christmas Party. Those attending were: Joan Boone, Joan Walsh, Jackie Bradley, Gaye Cronkite, Marie Hewitt, Daisy Campbell, Gladys Long, Amy Jane Kneeland, and Elaine Bailey. The party began with a blessing, followed by a delicious luncheon.

The Prayer of Invocation and the Pledge of Purpose were then read by all present, after which Joan Walsh played Christmas carols on the piano as all joined in singing. Elaine Bailey followed the sing-along by reading “The Littlest Angel” by Charles Tazewell.

Next came the Yankee Swap with a fair amount of good-natured trading. The party ended with all praying the Benediction.

Raffle winners

The Bridgewater Historical Association drew the winning raffle tickets for their “Dance for the Dogs” project on Saturday, Dec. 8, following their Christmas Party dinner at Bonanza in Presque Isle. Glenni, a canine Maine state trooper, is this year’s beneficiary of the project. Though his down time is spent with his partner, Chad Fuller and his family, there are times when Glenni needs his own space. Therefore the BHA raised money to purchase a covered pen so he will have that space. Should Glenni no longer need the pen in the future, the pen will be passed to another canine state trooper.

The first prize of a handmade quilt made by Shirley Drew was won by Rita Hersey. The second prize of a woodcarving of three ducks by Dee and Phyllis Cote was won by Audrey York. The third prize of a food basket was won by Cindy Willette.

A big thank you goes to everyone for their support on this project.
