Office improvements — G. M. Morgan, furniture dealer, has been making some improvements in his office.
Accepted a position — Miss Sarah Trusty has accepted a position as clerk in A.V. Goud & Co’s dry goods store. Miss Trusty has until recently been employed in W. R. Pipes dry goods store in Presque Isle.
100 Years Ago – Feb. 2, 1922
Thinking about branching out — The Caribou Ice Co. is contemplating branching out its business another year by building a cold storage plant.
Guessing the weight of a poundcake — The Willing Workers Club have planned to place a large fruit cake made by Mrs. George Hannah, in Scates Co.’s drug store on Saturday where it will remain for one week, giving the public an opportunity to guess its weight.
75 Years Ago – Jan. 30, 1947
Daigle building purchased — Purchase of the Dick Daigle building on Main Street near the square was made this past week by Ansel Anderson, Caribou. Daigle, who has bowling alleys in the location, expects to vacate by April first. Anderson, whose business location and stock was destroyed in the Sweden Street fire of Jan..13, will reopen his large men’s and boy’s clothing trade in the new location soon.
Chairman named — Clifford G. McIntire, of Perham, has been appointed Aroostook County Special Gifts chairman for the University of Maine alumni campaign to raise funds for a Union Building which is to be a memorial to the 175 University men and women who served in World War II.
25 Years Ago – Jan. 29, 1997
First in their class — Jessica McCollom of Madawaska, Kathy Edgecomb of LImestone and David Huffstutler of Lincoln were among the first regular group students to arrive yesterday for the new Loring Job Corps Center. This group marks the start of the weekly influx the center will from now on be experiencing until they reach their capacity of 380 students. The Loring Job Corps Center is only the fifth such facility in the New England area.
