The Wallagrass/Soldier Pond Revitalization Committee will host the 9th annual Pondfest this weekend.
A full day of family friendly events with music, vendors and door prizes is planned Sunday, July 2, in downtown Soldier Pond.
The committee will raise funds during the event for flags, the town veterans memorial and their new project, a pavilion for the boat landing.
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a barbecue meal of hotdogs, burgers beans at $5 per plate for both adults and kids.
Games are on tap from 2 to 5 p.m. Frog races will start at 2; participants can bring their own frogs or have one provided to them. Other activities will include bounce houses, a water slide and an obstacle course. There will be face painting, swimming pool baseball, sack races and field games, and youngsters can also try pony rides and enjoy baby goats.
The duck race will start at 4 p.m.
The annual parade will start forming at 6 p.m. at Desjardins Garage on the Sly Brook Road, and will wind through town at 6:30 p.m.
Following a musical performance by a local band at 7:30, organizers will give out free neon bracelets and necklaces to kids. Along with being fun, the lights help keep children visible after dark.
