Area youth wins Elks state soccer championship

WATERVILLE, Maine – On October 6 Oakley Stetson, son of Rachel Stetson and Spencer Stetson of Mars Hill, won the state championship in the Maine Elks Association’s State Soccer  Shoot held at the Waterville Elks Lodge.

Oakley had won the right to compete in the State Soccer Shoot after having been the first-place winner in the under 10 age category of the Soccer Shoot held by Presque Isle Elks Lodge #1954 on September 15. Thereafter, Stetson was the winner in his age division at the Northern District Soccer Shoot held at Husson University on  September 22.  

Oakley will now advance to the Elks Area One Soccer Shoot to be held in  Burlington, Vermont, on November 2.
