We are truly excited for our Toast for Tails happening this coming Saturday, Nov. 7, at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Campus Center. This will be a fun and exciting evening dedicated to supporting the Central Aroostook Humane Society.
We can’t believe the outpouring of support that we have received, not only from those wanting to sponsor the event, but the many exclusive, expensive and unique items for our silent auction and also our live auction. We guarantee there will be something for everyone.
This is a catered event and refreshments are included with your admission. You must be 21 or older to attend, as there will be a cash bar available. So please stop by from 6 to 8 p.m. for a tail-wagging good time.
With the change in times last weekend, we are seeing the darkness arrive way too early. The days are much shorter and dusk arrives literally in the late afternoon. It’s time to think about safely walking your pet in the dark.
If you and your pet venture out, be sure to use reflective collars, light-up leashes, or clip-on safety lights during evening walks. Try to stay close to residential areas or in downtown areas where street lamps are more visible.
If hiking, stick to well-marked paths and keep your dog on a leash to avoid the risks associated with hunting and trapping seasons. Dress yourself and your pet in bright or reflective colors to increase your visibility.
When the temperatures drop, remember that small breeds, short-haired dogs and senior pets may need a jacket or cozy sweater on chilly walks.
And in the event your pet runs away or breaks loose, always have identification on your pet’s collar, and microchipping your pet is especially helpful in finding your cat or dog if they become lost.
We hope to see you at the Toast for Tails for an unforgettable evening in support of the Central Aroostook Humane Society. Your support and generosity create a profound impact on the animals housed in our shelter. Every ticket purchased, auction bid placed, and donation made helps us to continue to provide much-needed care to the animals in our community.
So, here’s our toast to you, and to creating a safe haven for our pets in need until they can find their forever homes.
Please be responsible pet owners: spay and neuter.
