Ice fishing derby

An ice fishing derby and drawing, sponsored by Hodgdon High School Class of 2010, will be held on Saturday, with  more than $1,200 in prizes.
The ice fishing derby will be held on Nickerson, Drews, Cochran and Bradbury lakes, as well as Hodgdon Mill Pond.     Cost is $5 per ticket, which allows an angler entry into both the fishing derby and drawing.
Prizes in the ice fishing derby will be for first and second place for togue, trout/splake, pickerel, white perch, salmon and the smallest fish. Placement is determined by the weight of the fish. Prizes will be given out at 4 p.m. at Cameron’s Market in New Limerick.
Derby prizes include: a Cabella’s Duck Cloth jacket; snowsled helmet; Rayovac flex light and ice fishing jack trap; MP3 player; an “outdoorsman” surprise package; five large pizzas; a whitetail knife and Shakespeare fishing rod and reel; a “Hunter’s package;” a chenille throw; 25 venison sticks; 12 quarts of 5W-30 motor oil; an “ice fishing package;” a whoopie pie cake; a $30 gift certificate; a 16-ounce rib eye dinner; a socket set; a wildlife coffee mug and three $10 gift certificates.
Even if someone doesn’t want to participate in the ice fishing derby, tickets are also good for the drawing where a number of prizes will be given. First place is $500; second, a Maine hunting license and third, a $15 gift certificate. The raffle will be drawn at 4:15 p.m. at Cameron’s Market.
During the day of the fishing derby and raffle, free coffee is available at Curtis’ Bait Shop.
Tickets may be purchased at Curtis’ Bait Shop; MACS Trading Post; T&S Market, Backwoods Guide Service; Cameron’s Market; Rairdon’s Bait Shop or from any senior at Hodgdon High School.
