Brad Fredericks has been working on a project that has been six months in the making.
“I thought to myself, I have to do something to honor a great friend,” said Fredericks.

So, he came up with a co-ed softball tournament June 14-16 at Houlton Community Park in memory of SFC Aaron Henderson, who was killed by an IED while serving his country in Afghanistan.
So far, the response has been fantastic. All proceeds from the tournament will go to the Wounded Warrior Project in Henderson’s name.
“I  have been e-mailing businesses and social networking requesting raffle items to make the event as huge as possible,” explained Fredericks. “And, it has been great.”
Fredericks has a range of donations from $500 to an autographed Maine Red Claws jersey, along with a variety of other items.
“Houlton businesses have been  great,” Fredericks added.
Since word went out, Fredericks easily filled the 10-team schedule.
“More people are asking to put teams in too,” said Fredericks, who may address the addition of more teams for the tournament in the near future.
During the event, the Greater Houlton Christian Academy food booth will be selling concessions, with proceeds to benefit the school’s general fund.
“I am hoping this will be a huge event,” said Fredericks.
As a tribute to Henderson, Fredericks is bringing back the team from 2000 that they played on together.
“Aaron always wanted to play with us again, but never will get the chance,” said Fredericks. “So, here is my chance to get all the old friends together and a have great weekend in Aaron’s honor.”
