LIMESTONE — The Limestone Board of Selectpeople met on July 15 to discuss a short agenda.
A public hearing was held at the beginning of the meeting to review and approve a renewal application for a liquor license for the Rendezvous Restaurant with no opposition; the Selectpeople approved the application. While it was on the agenda to review the bylaws for the Community Development Group, the Selectpeople approved a motion to not take action until a draft copy of the bylaws for the group was available
A request from the Limestone Rotary Club regarding the tax exemption on a parcel of land that the Rotary Club is in the process of obtaining was also on the agenda. The Selectpeople approved a motion to not take action until the club produces a Tax Exemption Application and other supporting material.
Town Manager Donna Bernier reported to the Selectpeople that the annual audit for the town and the school will be conducted during the week of August 17.
The Selectpeople were also informed that materials have been ordered for the Nelson Street project, and that the local snowmobile club has requested that the groomer they have chosen be ordered. The Selectpeople requested that Bernier set up a meeting with the club and the Board to discuss the issue in detail.
Bernier reminded the Selectpeople that yearly appointments will be done during the first Selectpeople meeting in August, which is this evening at 6:30 in the conference room of the Municipal Building.
The Selectpeople approved a pole location application from Maine Public Service Company for Black Road, and nominated Selectperson Mary Morin to replace former Selectperson Gary O’Neal for union negotiations.
During the elected officials’ reports, Selectperson Jim Leighton expressed his thanks to Grace O’Neal for her help in coordinating the Fourth of July Parade.
Morin provided a draft copy of a vehicle maintenance bid package to the board members and department heads. She also vocalized her objection toward town spending, particularly $300 for glow in the dark bracelets and $400 for T-shirts.
Morin also stated that she was voted onto the Board of Selectpeople to speak up for her voters, and she intends to do just that.
The next meeting of the Selectpeople is tonight at 6:30.
