The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department has started its Fall Pee Wee Soccer program.
Summaries of a few of the recent games follows:
Premier League (Grades 3 and 4)
The Revolution had solid defense in the first quarter from Noah Frost and Jacob Soucy. Sebastian Marquis had a save in goal and Gabrielle Marquis played solid in putting pressure on the Galaxy defenders. The Galaxy’s Kassie Krul scored a goal in the second quarter off a pass off Alex Ezzy’s foot. The Galaxy’s offense was great in the first half with lots of great passing. John O’Meara and Megan Dube both played stong defense for the Revs with Evan Desmond having several saves in goal. Noah Frost and Sebastian Marquis put lots of pressure on the Galaxy team.
In the third quarter, Megan Dube had a shot on goal and Evan Desmond scored two goals for the Revs. Noah Frost had a nice save in goal. Dagan Savage dribbled his way through a few Revolution players to find his way to the net for a goal for Team Galaxy.
In the fourth quarter, O’Meara had a great save in goal and Desmond scored the go-ahead goal.
The Fire started their season strong offensively with Nick Sleeper scoring four times. Hope Shea and Camden Huck each found the net for one apiece. Danielle Hanson played great defense. Cameron Doody played well with great skills and Sidney Thompson was outstanding in goal.
The Rapids played a good game, showing lots of great hustle on the field. Seth Roy found the back of the net and also assisted one of Bailey Griffeths’s goals. Griffeth had two goals in this contest, along with an assist from Roy. The Rapids’ defense made some good plays, led by Hunter Jackson and Seth Beidelman. Willow Whitten played strong in there as well.
The Metrostars’ Ashley Matlock scored two of the three goals, one off an assist from Dawson Hebert and the other off an assist by Alec Cyr. Hebert had a goal off an assist from Matlock. Gabe Rand and Josh Cummings both had two shots on goal. Austin Findlen played strong defense while tending goal.
For the Revolution, the first half started strong with Desmond having several scoring opportunities. Zoe Gerakaris and Kyra Thibeault played well on defense. Frost had several good saves in goal.
In the second half, Gabrielle Marquis, Dube, Thibeault and Frost all played well, keeping the pressure on the defense and each having good scoring opportunities. Sebastian Marquis scored the lone goal for Revolution and also helped keep the pressure on the Metrostars’ offense. Desmond, Gerakaris and Frost all took shots on goal, with Sebastian Marquis playing well in goal.
Kassie Krul played a great game for the Galaxy, scoring a “hat trick.” Two of her goals were unassisted and one was assisted by Ezzy. Brandon Manter sent a long shot in from the 18-yard line. The Galaxy team had superb defense led by Matt Nadeau and Daniel Randolph.
The Rapids team was led by Roy, who scored twice in the first half.
World League (Grades 5 and 6)
The first game of the season turned out to be a defensive battle for both teams. Liverpool’s defense shined with the help of goalie Ethan Plourde, who saved many shots on goal. Devon Martin of Liverpool, however, did find the net to put the only score on the board.
Chelsea’s defense was led by solid goaltending from Kerrigan Manter, Tyler Dombroski, Gabe Massey and Connor Plourde, who combined to stop numerous shots and give up only one goal. Riley McDuffie had a strong game on the defensive end, stopping many of Liverpool’s scoring opportunities. Kirsten Haney and Lindsey Rowland also made valuable contributions on the defensive end. On offense, Matt Caron and Connor Plourde had several good scoring opportunities, but the ball never seemed to find the back of the net.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United came out hot, combining for seven first-half goals. The Arsenal scored four times, two each from Donovan Savage and Michael Hunter. Assisting the goals were Paul Hanson, Danica Walker and Hunter. The team played tough defense in the second half, holding Man U without a goal, while putting in two more. These goals were netted by Hunter and Savage as well. Nick Pelletier, Eden Howell and Rachel Soucy were defensive standouts for Arsenal.
Manchester United’s Josiah Krul led his team in this contest, placing the ball in the goal twice. Richard Newland contributed with a goal as well. Sara Boyer made some great defensive plays.
In another contest, Manchester United shot the ball well in the contest against Chelsea. Scorers for United were Kyle Soetarte-Beaulier with one and Krul with four. Austin Scott played in goal for half the game, denying five outstanding scoring opportunities for Chelsea.
Chelsea had some solid attacks on goal by Connor Plourde and Matt Caron resulting in two unassisted goals by Plourde. Dombroski netted a perfect direct kick while playing at midfield, as well as making some great stops in goal in the third quarter. Rylie McDuffie was a defensive machine, hustling the length of the field for an entire game. Providing great defense as Chelsea’s stopper was Cole Jackson.
