The University of Maine at Fort Kent’s Foundation will host its 17th annual UMFK Foundation Gala dinner and entertainment fundraiser on Saturday, April 6 at the UMFK Sports Center. The Denim and Diamonds-themed event will feature a social hour with the talented Taylor Martin, seven-course dinner, and club dancing until the stars fade.
The University of Maine at Fort Kent Blake Library Gallery is featuring the works of students in Doug Clapp’s ART 200 Fundamentals of Art – Drawing class. The exhibit will be on display during the month of March.
There are some lodging options the farther north one travels.
The event will bring about 160 participants to town, not including families and guests.
Everyone is invited to leave a stone at the rock during their visit for the April 5 to 8 Eclipse weekend. And with a projected 40,000 visitors for the total solar eclipse on April 8, they could end up with a pretty big cairn.
The University of Maine at Fort Kent will host its annual “Sucrerie” on Wednesday, March 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Nowland Hall.
The town will set up a parking lot-sized heated tent. Inside, there will be spiritual healing and energy work demonstrations.
It took around 650 truck loads of snow to build the snocross race track in the Aroostook Centre Mall parking lot.
Six churches are offering public dinners, suppers or afternoon chowder, three are offering warming centers with refreshments and four have offered church parking lots for eclipse parking.
