This month and 3 years ago, Maine suffered from frigid, polar winds caused by changes in the polar vortex. Cold Arctic air dipped down much further south than usual and froze pipes and doubled energy bills here.

I was truly surprised when U.S. Sen Susan Collins, who I’ve voted for, voted to support the GOP’s tax bill.

On Nov. 7, Houlton citizens will vote on two very important local referendum questions and three open Town Council positions.
It’s called the Gentle Memorial Building. It is still the home of the Houlton Parks and Recreation Department. We kids called it “the Rec.”

This past summer, one of Washburn District High School’s students was involved in a very serious car accident.
My child just started the school year at Presque Isle High School. The first thing she says to me when getting home is that her civics teacher spent a majority of his time in class bashing President Trump, and referred to all Republicans as dimwits.
