Winterfest coming to Mars Hill

Organizers are making plans for Mars Hill’s Winterfest 2018.  This year’s events will take place on Thursday, March 8, through Saturday, March 10.

Some events this year will include a “Mz. Winterfest Snowbunny” pageant, Rotary supper, Match Your Mate, silent auction, music, breakfast, basketball, cribbage, bingo, fireworks and more.

We are challenging all our former “Mz.” winners to get ready to strut your stuff again this year. There is no age or gender limit — so sign up to make this a fun and entertaining event.

Rotary Raffle

The Mars Hill Rotary Club is holding their annual raffle, with proceeds to go toward scholarships and the capital campaign at The Aroostook Medical Center for purchasing new beds for the Aroostook Health Center.

Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased from any Rotarian or from Kathy at the Central Aroostook High School superintendent’s office.

There are currently over 30 items on the ticket, so there are over 30 chances to win. Among the items are two chances for 100 gallons of fuel oil and many gift certificates for oil changes, restaurants, car washes and more.  The winners will be drawn in December at halftime of a home basketball game.

Rotary Club

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, at the Aroostook Health Center at 6:30 a.m.

The guest speaker was Theresa Fowler of the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce.  The chamber now covers 23 communities, from Easton to Masardis and Blaine to New Sweden. The two staff members currently work with around 400 members.

Fowler plans to get out to visit different communities each Wednesday. She frequently travels downstate to work with the Maine Tourism Committee.

The chamber will issue a new brochure in February.

Birthday Calendars

The 2018 Rotary Birthday Calendars are now available at the Mars Hill Katahdin Trust Company, at the Mars Hill and Blaine Town Offices and at the superintendent’s office at CAHS.

The 2018 Calendar is the 54th edition of this calendar. Thanks to all who support this annual fundraiser.
