PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Young players on Presque Isle’s team in the Aroostook Youth Basketball League were treated Wednesday, Jan. 31, to a postgame talk with the coaching staff and team members of the Wildcats boys varsity basketball team.

The youth sat together for the the contest, a 67-50 PI win over John Bapst, and then were able to visit the locker room afterwards.

“Some of the players and myself talked to them about what it means to be a Wildcat,” said Presque Isle head coach Terry Cummings. “The kids were so excited and it was a great experience for all involved.”

As part of the postgame talk, Cummings and his wife, Crystal, and son, Malachi, presented a plaque to senior guard Griffin Guerrette for his achievement of reaching the 1,000-point mark for his career during the team’s game against Orono two nights earlier.

“It was just a great night and was encouraging to see so many kids excited about our team and the game of basketball,” Cummings said. “This was an experience those young kids will remember for the rest of their lives.”
