ISLAND FALLS, Maine — As the leaves start to change it is the perfect time to play golf. Cool, crisp mornings and ideal course conditions make for great golf. With the dry conditions and the extra roll it creates makes for long drives.

The couples scramble winners this past week were Betty Smallwood, Terry Pettengill, Peter Blood and Mike Ivey with a nice 34. In second place, with a 37, were Pete Lawlor, Candy Kelley and Jon Smallwood. In third, with a 39, were Brent Kelley, Val Powers and Carol Blood.

The final of the twilight league was played Sunday and the team of Bill Dwyer and Warren Walker nipped Brett Kelley and Tom Daggett, 75 to 76. Dwyer and Walker held on despite a big charge by Kelley and Daggett. They were down seven with five to play and picked up at least one stroke a hole over those last five. Walker’s game folded, like a cheap tent, making double bogeys on six of the last seven holes. Kelley was instrumental during the charge with pars on 16 and 17.

This Thursday, Stuart Kelley will be hold a two person Scramble at 5 p.m. Entry fee is $5 and is open to all. Just be at the course before 5 p.m. and sign up.

This Wednesday is Pizza and Pasta night at the Slice. Rumor has it that Benny will be tickling the keyboard as well. Thursday is all you can eat boneless wing night and Friday will feature the all you can eat fish fry. The new Slice Restaurant hours are Wednesday through Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday opening at 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday.
