To the editor:
As you know, Fort Fairfield had the privilege to host the All-Aroostook Music Festival this year. A couple of weeks before the festival, our church, received a call from the principal, Mark Jenkins, asking if the school could possibly use our church as an additional space for the All-Aroostook Chorus to practice. We like to share so United Parish Church and happily said “yes” to welcoming the students and their advisers.
The experience of sharing space with young people from all over Aroostook was so positive that we would like to say a public thank you. The All-Aroostook High School Chorus is comprised of students selected through countywide auditions and so the young people we hosted came from all over our area. Additionally, students from Fort Fairfield High School came down to sell refreshments in the dining room (to keep up the singers’ strength!). We want all these students (vocalists and venders), their parents, the director, Erin Lowell, the manager, Pam Kinsey, the accompanist, Mari Jo Mc Laughlin, Fort Fairfield principal, Mark Jenkins and everyone in our larger Aroostook community to know that we are touched by the care with which they used our church home. Everyone involved in the trek to our church for practice space helped to make the visit a gift.
Hebrews 13:2 reminds us that we should not, “…neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.” We think that must be what happened to us! Thanks to all who participated and left only a trace of angel footsteps behind.
