Caribou sweeps girls

The Caribou Middle School girls have taken home the gold two more times in the latest freestyle cross country meets. On March 14, all but one of the the top five placements belonged to CMS at the Nordic Heritage Center. Two days later, Caribou snagged the top two in Woodland.
    Overall, Caribou led the way in Presque Isle, with a score of 10; Fort Fairfield came in second at 44; Union 122 was third with 46; the Presque Isle Blue Team was fourth at 70; and the PI White Team was fifth, scoring 79 points.
I n Woodland, Caribou scored 20 points, with Union 122 following at 45; Fort Fairfield came in third with 59; the PI White Team scored 78; the PI Blue Team had 91; Fort Kent scored 140; and Ashland had 236 points.
The Caribou girls skied 2.5 kilometers on Wednesday in PI while the snow was melting fast due to the rain. They brought in most of the top five with Katie Plourde, Caribou, leading the way, finishing in nine minutes and 24 seconds. Vicky Bernard, Fort Kent, finished second with a time of nine minutes and 58 seconds. Lydia Kieffer, Nicole Cyr, Madison Outing and Ginger Kieffer all finished third through sixth with times of 10:06, 10:07, 10:12, and 10:15, respectively.
Rounding out the top 10 finishers were Danni Anderson-Packard, for the Presque Isle White Team, at 10:31; Cassidy Spencer, Fort Kent, at 10:34; Kaitlyn Kinsey, Fort Fairfield, 10:44; and Melissa McKenney, Fort Fairfield, with a time of 10:45.
In Woodland, Laura Collins and Katie Plourde, both of Caribou, finished the three kilometer course in first and second with times of 12:27 and 12:35, respectively. Vicky Bernard placed third with a time of 13 minutes 26 seconds; and her teammate, Cassidy Spencer, finished fourth at 13:41. Danni Anderson-Packard came in fifth at 13:41.
The other top 10 finishers were: Dayna Michaud, Union 122, 14:35; Kaitlyn Kinsey, 14:39; Ginger Kieffer, 14:42; Lydia Kieffer, 14:47; and Madison Outing finishing in 15 minutes.
