PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The search for a replacement for Finance Director Donald “Spike” Savage came to an end with the City Council’s confirmation of City Manager Tom Stevens’ appointment of Priscilla Webb during the Council’s Monday, July 9, session at City Hall.
“Priscilla comes to us with a wealth of experience in the field of banking and loans dating back to the 1970s,” said Stevens.
Webb, a certified public accountant and certified internal auditor, has a bachelor of science in education from the University of Missouri as well as a degree in business administration from North Texas State University. Raised in Missouri where she attended grade school, Webb now resides in Presque Isle where she has worked for a local bank for several years.
“From 2000 to 2006, Priscilla served as the chief financial officer for First Citizens Bank. Prior to that, she worked for an accounting firm,” said Stevens.
Webb got her start in banking working for a savings and loan office in Texas before moving to northern Maine where she worked for KeyBank from 1986 to 1989. She returned to Texas to work at a CPA firm as an accounting manager, then again made the transition to Aroostook County when she joined First Citizens.
Stevens said although several applicants were interested in the position, the final decision focused on qualifications, with Webb’s experience proving to weigh heavily in the process.
“Priscilla comes very well qualified. She has a very strong business and banking background as a certified public accountant and certified public auditor. She brings a lot of strengths to the city of Presque Isle and specifically to the Finance Department,” said Stevens.
Councilman G. Melvin Hovey chaired the Search Committee that included Stevens and Personnel Director LaNiece Winslow.
Webb will begin her duties as the new finance director effective July 19.
