HOULTON — Two vehicles were damaged, but neither driver was hurt in a Nov. 2 collision on North Street.
Cpl. Tom Donahue of the Houlton Police Department said the accident happened around 8 a.m. when Tina Clark, 38, of Houlton was stopped, preparing to turn left at Attorney Mike Carpenter’s office, just north of the Maine State Police barracks. A second driver, Alan Smith, 30, of Littleton was traveling behind Clark’s vehicle when he looked away to wave to someone else. When he looked back, he saw Clark’s vehicle stopped ahead and attempted to avoid the crash.
“He tried to go around her, but ended up hitting her vehicle and going off the road,” said Donahue.
Emergency responders checked both at the scene, and no injuries were reported.
Damage estimates are close to $15,000. Donahue said Clark’s 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee sustained an estimated $7,000 in damage to its side; Smith’s 1995 GMC Truck sustained the same amount of damage to its front end. Both drivers said they were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Others assisting at the scene included Officer Jared Sylvia and Lt. Daniel Pelletier.
