SASWCD produces farm calendar

    This year’s Southern Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District calendar features maps of local farms in southern Aroostook that sell direct to the consumer through roadside stands or on the farm. The District began this project, in part, to support our region’s preservation of family farms. The ‘Buy Local’ farm calendars will not only give our community an understanding of what this area has to offer for agricultural diversity, but enable the public to purchase more of their food locally, benefiting our farm families and strengthening the communities we live in.
    The calendars will be sold for $5 each with the proceeds being used to send two children to Tanglewood 4-H Camp next summer. The ‘Buy Local’ farm calendars are available at the SASWCD office, 304 North St, Houlton or buy phoning 532-9407 ext 3 for additional outlets.
