HOULTON — Proceeds from the Houlton Rotary Club’s annual fund-raiser auction are expected to reach $40,000, says auction chair Fred Grant.
The club’s 52nd annual radio and TV auction wrapped up last Wednesday night after three nights of bidding. Businesses and individuals donated $50,000 worth of items, and Grant said early estimates show roughly $40,000 of net profit after all expenses are deducted.
“We can’t thank the community enough for their support again this year,” he said. “Their generosity will have a significant impact on the projects we’re involved with.”
Major beneficiaries of the auction this year are the Community Park playground and the Houlton Elementary School playground. Other projects set to receive the Rotary funds include the Houlton Little League field project, the Houlton Community Arts Center, Make-A-Wish Foundation, the SOAR flag project, Rotary’s own Youth Exchange Program and local Dollars for Scholars.
