We received in a beautiful stray tiger cat last weekend with multiple wounds from others animals. Her face and neck area was swollen to almost twice its normal size from infected abscesses. This adult cat looks to be a couple of years old, is extremely loving, and clean about her environment.

Callie, a displaced adult German Shepherd, is hoping she will be “home for the holidays.” Callie is about 2 years old, spayed, all current shots and has a very gentle, patient attitude about all of life’s troubles. She will be a perfect family companion or a loving soulmate for an older person. Please consider giving Callie a permanent home to call her very own.
Her owner obviously intended for her to be an inside cat as she was declawed probably when she was spayed. Somehow, this cat got let outside accidentally and became lost. She was tormented by fear when she first came to us because without claws, she had had no means to defend herself from other animals nor the ability to catch mice and other rodents for food. Hence the multiple wounds and starvation.
We sent her to our vet for surgical drainage of the wounds and after a few days of hospitalization, she returned to our foster care network for additional nursing. She has a couple of dozen stitches and 2 large drainage tubes in her neck that have to be cleansed twice a day. She was severely anemic and is on a vitamin supplement and an antibiotic. Somewhere a family is mourning this lost family pet. At this time, she is resting comfortably stretched out across the pillows of my grandson’s bed happy and contented to be safe, warm and loved. A safety collar and an I.D. name tag, tattoo or microchip could have prevented this tragedy.
Hopefully, her family will read this article and come to CPR to identify this wonderful little girl. There is still time to I.D. your pets. A safety collar for cats can be purchased at the local department stores and inexpensive I.D. tags for both dogs and cats can be purchased for only $1.00 at Caribou Pet Rescue. It is a long, lonely, and hungry winter for any animal lost or abandoned. Please help us by identifying your pet before it becomes lost. Your action now can save a lot of sadness.
Callie, a young spayed female German Shepherd, has the best of all the shepherd’s personality traits. She is warm, loving, and alert but quite docile about changes. She enjoys playing in the backyard with the other dogs and especially likes to spend time with people and this, happily, includes visiting children. We see everything good with this dog and we are hoping to place her in a good home by Christmas.
Although, she had been here for a long time (6 weeks), she is very accepting of her lot in life and gives employees no worry about her care. She would be a great family member for any size family or age of individual.
We get excited about Christmas. We see it as an opportunity to have more people visit us to look over the animals. We have over 50 kittens and adult cats in the shelter and many more young kittens in foster homes. We have, at this time, 3 adoptable dogs.
We hope you will consider adopting a loving, but lonely CPR pet for Christmas. A nice amount of quiet and rest time is important to any animal (or person) when they are in the process of making a life change. Also, please keep decorations and electrical wires away from young kittens and puppies.

This will not be an easy winter for anyone, – but with your help, we can make it. At this time, we are in need of Purina Kitten. Purina Cat Chow and canned cat food. Bleach is always needed and we use a huge amount of laundry detergent. Call 498-3800 for information or check out our pets at
