HOULTON — Casey Faulkingham, a senior at Houlton High School, has been nominated to compete in the national Principal’s Leadership Award (PLA) scholarship program, sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

NOMINATED — Houlton High School Principal Marty Bouchard presents Casey Faulkingham a certificate after she was nominated to compete in the national Principal’s Leadership Award (PLA) scholarship program. Faulkingham, a senior at the school, is the daughter of Mark and Leanne Faulkingham of Houlton.

Principal Marty Bouchard announced the nomination Dec. 14, and Faulkingham has now earned a place in national competition. One hundred PLA winners will be chosen this spring to receive a college scholarship ranging from $1,000 to $12,000.
High school principals from across the country nominated student leaders. Nominees were selected based on their leadership skills, participation in service organizations and clubs, achievements in the arts and sciences, employment experience and academic record. Nominees were also required to write an essay.
While at Houlton High School, Faulkingham has been involved in multiple activities and events. She has been part of several varsity sports teams. For all four years of high school, she’s been part of the school band and jazz band, as well as, part of student council. Faulkingham was part Girls State in 2007, received an English award in Grade 9 and a University of Maine Engineering Award in Grade 11. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.
