Academy hosts pastor’s coffee

HOULTON — On Dec. 7, Greater Houlton Christian Academy (GHCA) hosted a Pastors’ Coffee to both greet the area pastors who have faithfully supported GHCA and to seek their counsel on important issues the academy faces as it continues to grow. This was the first of what GHCA hopes will be ongoing advisory meetings between area pastors and the Academy.
GHCA’s mission is to equip students with a strong Biblical worldview so they may become godly leaders who will serve their families and communities, impacting the world for Jesus Christ. Since income from tuition fees at GHCA account for about 80 percent of the costs of operating the school, the GHCA Board of Directors and Headmaster, Mark Jago were seeking input from the pastors on what types of fund raisers are both appropriate and consistent with the Academy’s mission statement.
The goal, they said, is to assure that all GHCA’s programs and activities not only reflect the mission statement but contribute to building unity within the greater Houlton area community.
The Board and administration recognize that as an integral part of the community at large, the Academy plays a significant role in bringing together families and churches of different denominations.  They also recognize that any decisions affecting our community must be made with much wisdom and prayer.
The Pastors’ Coffee proved to be an excellent starting point to listen to the communities’ spiritual leaders, added Jago.
