New Year’s overnight party
    The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department will be hosting a New Year’s overnight for children grades one to five in the S.A.D. 1 communities. Parents may drop off kids starting at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, and pick up is by 8 a.m. on Jan. 1.     Parents can celebrate New Year’s Eve without having to worry about their kids. The children will enjoy pizza, swimming, bingo, gym games, movies and a New Year’s celebration.
    Pre-registration is required, and limited spaces are available. The cost is $20 per child. Registration is now taking place at the William V. Haskell Community Center.
Big Rock ski passes
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department has discounted lift tickets for Big Rock Ski Area in Mars Hill. Junior (ages 6 to 17) lift tickets will be sold for $17, while adult lift tickets will be sold for $22. Call 764-2545 with any questions.
Youth cross country skiing program and rentals
    The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department will be teaming up with the Nordic Heritage Center to hold a youth cross country skiing program this winter. The program will be for students grades three to eight. The program will run on Thursdays from Jan. 17th to Feb. 14th, then Wednesdays from Feb. 27th to Mar. 26th, from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m. There will also be meetings on Saturdays from Jan. 19th to Mar. 29th from 10:00 a.m. to noon, with the exception of Feb. 23rd. The fee for the program is $15 for Presque Isle residents, non-residents will be charged an additional fee. Skis are available for rental through the season through Mojo. Total packages are available at the Recreation Center for $40 before November 15th, $50 after. Please call 764-2545 for more information and/or with any questions.
