HOULTON — CAP, a College Transitions course for adults preparing for the college experience, will begin at the Houlton Higher Education Center on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2008. This program runs 12 hours a week through April 17. Topics covered include College Orientation, placement test preparation, career and interest assessments, and “Power Point for College.” Interested students should contact Bernadette Farrar or Phil Gulliver at 521-3154 before Dec. 31 to make an intake interview appointment.
Algebra, Fractions/Decimals/Percentages classes will begin at the Houlton Higher Education Center on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008. These classes will run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 – 11 a.m. There are admissions and attendance requirements. These classes are for Secondary credit and are intended to prepare you for college placement testing.
English Language Arts and Critical Reading Skills classes will begin at the Houlton Higher Education Center on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008. The Adult Education Open Learning Center (OLC) will begin it Winter Term at the Houlton Higher Education Center on Monday Jan. 7, 2008. The OLC is open from noon to 4 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday and from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday evenings.
SAD 29/70 Adult Education announces a new condensed “Boot Camp” for GED preparation. These sessions will be held during the weeks of Jan. 28, Feb. 4, March 31, and April 7 — Monday through Thursday from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Houlton Higher Education Center. SAD 29/70 and Region Two Vocational Adult Education announce a wide selection of computer courses for the New Year. Intro to Computer Basics will be held for four evenings, from 6-8 pm at the Houlton Higher Education Center computer lab: Jan. 8, 10, 15, & 17, 2008. (Register for one class.) Intro to Personal Computing will be held at the Region Two Vocational Center from 6-8 p.m. on Jan. 24 and 31, 2008. (Register for both evenings.) Intermediate Quickbooks will be offered at the Houlton Higher Education Center on Jan. 15, 22 and 29, 2008 from 6-9 p.m. (Must attend all three evenings)
SAD 29/70 Adult Education is offering a variety of Personal Enrichment courses beginning in January 2008 – including Quilting, Woodworking, Cake Decorating, Ballroom Dance, Dog Obedience, Hunter Safety, Stress Reduction, Creative Writing, Grow Your Own Organic Garden.
