HOULTON, Maine – New walls are beginning to take shape as the major York’s of Houlton expansion project concludes its first month of construction. Right now, several sales representatives still have their desks situated in corners of the display rooms.
“We’re running out of room,” explained Jerry York, York’s of Houlton general manager.
When finished, the project will add 14,000 square feet of new office and service space, and another 5,000 square feet of existing space will be renovated.
Buildings Etcetera of Houlton are the general contractors on the project.
“They’ve been really attentive to our needs and understand that we still need to do business here,” York explained.
The expansion will add four new offices to the north side of the building and major additions to the service department, including a drive-through car wash, a new customer waiting area, more service bays, and a new covered service drive where customers can drop off and pick up their vehicles.
“When the weather’s not so good, people will be able to drive their cars into the service department, and then be greeted by someone from our company, so they’ll kind of take their order while they’re in the car, then they can get out of their car and wait in a comfortable waiting area,” York said.
York also explained that when customers are buying a car and the weather is less than inviting, the sales person will be able to explain the features on the car within the comfort of an enclosed space.
York’s of Houlton plans on keeping a regularly updated progress log on the project on the company’s Web site, www.yorksofhoulton.com.
