‘08 County basketball all-stars

    PRESQUE ISLE – The 18th annual Aroostook County All-Star High School Basketball Classic 2008 will be held Wednesday, Mar. 12 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle at 5:30 p.m and 7 p.m.. Tickets are $3 per adult and $2 for children.

    Members of the girls’ blue team are Sarah Long and Alexandria Dame of Central Aroostook, Marrisa Albert and Katie Rossignol of Fort Kent, Kayla Stevens of Katahdin, Melanie Allen of LCS/MSSM, Amy Michaud and Allison Dean of Presque Isle and Kelsee McLaughlin and Erica McDougall of Washburn.
    On the gold team are Mindy Chasse and Whitney Flint of Ashland, Karyn King and Ali Richards of Caribou, Maryl Shaw of Fort Fairfield, Chelsie Lord and Sarah Riopel of Greater Houlton Christian Academy, Rachel Foster and Emily Bartlett of Houlton and Kristen Vaillancourt of Van Buren.
    Playing for the boys’ blue team are Tyler Cote and Lucas Belanger of Ashland; Cameron York and Logan McCarthy of Central Aroostook; Kyle Corrigan, Jarryd Rossignol and Ben Rosser of Caribou; Tyler Morse of East Grand; Jeremy Brock of Easton; and Corey Voisine of Fort Kent.
    The gold team members are Ryan Noyes of Fort Fairfield; Josh Beals and Ryan Hill of Houlton; Tom Anderson of Katahdin; Matt Enman of LCS/MSSM; Adam Kingsbury, Bennett Cassidy and Nic Gallant of Presque Isle; Colby Clark of Southern Aroostook; and Ben Doucette of Van Buren.    
    The 2008 Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star basketball honorees were announced during the tournament competition in Bangor last week with the banquet and games to take place on March 14 and 15 at Husson College.
    The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches announced that Karyn King, of Caribou High School, and Cameron York, of Central Aroostook High School, were named to the All-State academic team.
    Ten boys and girls statewide are selected to the team based on their basketball and academic performance.
    Russ Mortland and Allison Dean, of Presque Isle High School, were chosen to represent the Northern region in the Maine state foul shooting competition.
    The all-star basketball games will feature a competition between the most skilled seniors of the East versus the West. Joining the C/D girls’ team are Mindy Chasse and Whitney Flint, of Ashland Community High School, and Sarah Long, of Central Aroostook High School. Adam Kingsbury, of Presque Isle High School, and Kyle Corrigan, of Caribou High School, join the A/B boys’ team. York was named to the C/D boys’ team.
