On Tuesday, May 13, all interested citizens of Easton are asked to attend a meeting to discuss the development of a food pantry in Easton. As gas, oil, electricity, medicine and food prices continue to soar, many in our community are faced with difficult financial times. We would like to provide a food pantry here in Easton to help those who are in need. The meeting will be at 6 p.m. at the elementary school’s library.
The Pattee Page Post 187 of Easton met at the Odd Fellows Hall on Tuesday, April 15. The meeting was called to order by Commander Robert Clark. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Adjutant James Ireland and accepted as read. The financial report was given by Treasurer Hayward Ames, and he reported that all bills were paid. It was recommended that the report be placed for future audit. The group was told that they need one more membership to make 100 percent. It was suggested someone contact Doug Henderson to remind him of his membership. Under new business, the installation of officers combined with a supper was discussed. It was decided to do this on the next meeting on May 12 at 6 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall. Wives and auxiliary members are also invited. This will be a potluck with the Post furnishing steaks and chicken. On May 19, the Post will be putting out flags on the cemeteries and those participating should meet at the Legion Hall at 6 p.m. Commander Clark reported that Mrs. Darrell (Adaline) Page wanted to donate the money to send a boy to Boy’s State in memory of Darrell. The young man chosen is C.J. Beaton. All agreed and the motion was passed. A motion was made to donate $100 to the Freddie Seaborn Scholarship Fund, this was seconded and passed. It was voted to keep the Post officers the same for the next year. Those are: Commander Robert Clark, Vice Commander Paul Mullen, Adjutant James Ireland, Treasurer Hayward Ames, Chaplain Bernard Hussey, Sgt. at Arms Jeff Larsen, Americanisim Clair Carter and Historian – none. This vote passed. There was also a discussion on having a yard sale. Donations would be accepted and appreciated from the citizens of the town.
It was also decided to hold the annual Bean Hole Bean Supper on the 12th of July as usual. Meeting adjourned.
Four members of the Easton United Methodist Women attended the Mars Hill United Methodist Women’s meeting on Monday, April 14. Those attending were: Marie Hewitt, Eldora Carter, Glenice Craig and Lindy Fowler. These four also attended the Sub District Meeting of United Methodist Women on Wednesday, April 16, at the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church.

Wednesday, April 23 – Junior activities at the hall from 9:30-11 a.m. Rollerskating at the Melody Roller Rink in Caribou. The bus departs at 12:10 p.m. and will return at 3:40 p.m. The cost is $3.50 (extra to rent rollerblades). Children do not have to be pre-registered but must have a current release form on file at the Town Office.
Thursday, April 24 – Field trip to tour WAGM, go to lunch at McDonald’s and spend the afternoon at Gentile Hall. The cost is $5 plus your child’s lunch. The bus will depart from the hall at 10 a.m. and return at 4:15 p.m. Pre-registration is required! Weight Watchers at 5:30 p.m. at the elementary school library.
Friday, April 25 – Junior activities at the hall from 9:30-11 a.m. Movie theatre trip departs from the hall at 12:10 p.m. and will return at approximately 3:30 p.m. The cost is $5; this includes ticket, popcorn and soda. Concessions will be open for additional items. The movies showing are Horton Hears a Who (G) and College Road Trip (G). Children do not have to be pre-registered but must have a current release form on file at the Town Office.
Monday, April 28 – Senior field trip to the National Weather Service in Caribou and lunch at Rosella’s. The bus will depart from the manor at 9:15 a.m. Open gym for grades 1-6 at the elementary school from 2:45-4:15 p.m.
Tuesday, April 29 – Senior Pajama Party and breakfast at the manor at 9 a.m.
Wednesday, April 30 – No junior activities!
Easton pageants
The Little Miss Easton, Miss Pre-Teen Easton, Junior Miss Easton, Miss Teen Easton and Miss Easton 2008 pageants will be held Saturday, April 26, at 7 p.m. in the Easton Jr./Sr.
High School gym. Advanced tickets are available through the contestants or can be purchased at the door.
