PRESQUE ISLE – Pre-teen contestants took to the stage at the Presque Isle High School auditorium June 14 to have a little fun and help raise funds for the Class of 2010. When it was all over, Jordan Buckley was declared the winner. “We weren’t sure how it would turn out but by the looks of things, it was a success. Some of the girls have even asked if they can do it again next year,” said Pam Willette, adviser to the Class of 2010. “Before the kids went home – before everybody won, the kids were asking if they could do it again next year.”
Willette said it was no easy task getting all the girls prepared in such a short period of time.
“We had 17 contestants and pulled this off in just a matter of weeks. We couldn’t have done it without the help of school officials who allowed us to use the auditorium, all the parents who assisted in various ways, the many girls who took part and all the volunteers, including members of the Class of 2010,” said Willette.
Mistresses of ceremonies for the event were Maddasin Willette and Whitney LaPointe, who also helped choreograph the pageant with Alyssa Huston.
This marked the first year for the Miss Pre-Teen Presque Isle 2008 and Miss Teen Presque Isle 2008 pageants but definitely it won’t be the last.
“We’re already making plans for next year. Between the two pageants, we raised about $2,300,” said Willette.
