New Sweden – Lawrence R Wickstrom, 71, died July 13, 2008, at Caribou following a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Presque Isle February 21, 1937, the son of the late Carroll and Eunice (Hedman) Wickstrom. Mr. Wickstrom was employed as a operator/foreman for the Brescia Construction Co. for over 33 years. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of New Sweden. Lawrence was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He especially liked a good card game with his family and friends and loved to dance.
He is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law; Larry Wickstrom of Caribou, Dean and Tina Wickstrom of Holden, Jon and Penny Wickstrom of Old Town and Scott and Lisa Wickstrom of Bangor; one sister Viola Moynihan of New Sweden; four grandchildren; Chere, Kyle, Nicole and Bronwen Wickstrom. He will also be fondly remembered by a special friend Maggie Cormier of Edmundston, NB.
Friends may visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. with Rev. David Moore, officiating. Interment will take place in the Westmanland Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr. Wickstrom may do so through the First Baptist Church of New Sweden Memorial fund.
