Welcome to the first monthly installment of the Caribou Adult Education Corner. Our goal is to inform you, the reader, of the exciting happenings and various educational opportunities adult education offers. Our purpose is to serve the adult population in meeting their education goals.
Fall Open House
The newest happening is the first annual Caribou Adult Education Fall Open House on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from 2:00-7:00pm at the Caribou Learning Center Gymnasium located at 75 Bennett Drive. The open house will feature displays from programs such as high school completion, GED, English as a Second Language (ESL), Literacy Volunteers, Basic Adult Literacy, College Transitions, PLATO Learning Labs, enrichment classes such as quilting, EMT, Certified Nurse Assistant, CNA Med, Personal Support Specialist, and college classes offered via ITV.
Additionally, there will be community displays by those who partner with adult education such as Loring Job Corps, Women Work and Community, ACAP Career Center, A Family for Me, Northern Maine Community College, Community Health and Counseling Services, Maine Educational Opportunity Center, University of Maine at Presque Isle, Workforce Investment Center, and New Day Counseling.
During this time, information from all programs will be available as well as on site registrations. Visitors will have the opportunity to sign up to win a $100 gas card and enjoy a barbecue lunch.
Whether you are looking to complete high school, transition to college, enter into a new career, or simply develop a new skill or hobby, Caribou Adult Education has something for you. Stop in and be part of an exciting day by previewing our fall classes. Classes begin September 2nd.
