BAR HARBOR – The Caribou 9- and 10-year-old All-Stars competed in the 10th annual All-Star Tournament hosted by Acadia Little League Aug. 1-3. Caribou opened the tournament against the Acadia All-Stars, and came away with a 12-5 victory after blowing the game open in the fifth inning with seven runs.
Michael Hunter paced Caribou with a double and two singles while Tyler Dombroski tripled and singled. Nick Frost, Justin Ouellette and Mason Huck all singled. Ouellette and Donovan Savage combined pitching for a two walk, six strikeout and 11 hit performance.
Caribou moved on to face Old Town in their second game. Ouellette and Savage shared duties on the mound, and gave up eight hits along with four walks and three strikeouts. Caribou trailed for most of the game, but, in the top of the sixth, Savage and Paul Hanson scored one run each to help Caribou take the lead, 4-3.
However, Old Town came back with two of their own runs in the bottom half of the inning to walk off with a 5-4 win.
Ouellette led Caribou with two singles while Frost, Hunter, Dombroski, Huck, Hanson and Reece McDougal all added single hits.
Due to inclement weather, the double elimination tournament could not be finished.
