Thank you to family, friends and community

To the editor:
When you are diagnosed with an unexpected disease it changes your life and your plans. You are suddenly in a situation that you have no control over and the future is uncertain. Having the Lord and your family with you is what gets you through.
Another large factor that helps get you through is when you live in a small community. People know you and when they pray for you they can put a face to the name. You have unexpected visits from friends while in the hospital, cards and phone calls that seem to come just at the right time.
John and I would like to thank everyone for one of the biggest gestures of love, the benefit supper. Thank you to Skip Gray, my mother-in-law Phyllis Donnelly, Becky Nadeau and our son Michael White for organizing and “pulling it off.” There are so many other people that helped and gave much of their time and we want to thank you also; you know who you are. We would like to thank all of the businesses that donated food and gifts for the silent auction. Thank you to all of the people who made all of the food. There are so many people to thank that if I started to list names I would miss someone, but please know that it was much appreciated.
I had shed very few tears before the supper, but when I walked into the school that night and saw all of the people helping out and attending I cried and cried and was overwhelmed at how much people really do care.
Also, thank you to the businesses from Houlton to Bridgewater that allowed donations to be collected at their businesses. It was all much appreciated.
    Small town generosity is overwhelming.
