Bikers prepare for Toy Run

    The United Vets Motorcycle Club, of Houlton, will be taking to the road on Sunday, Aug. 31, for the 19th annual Toy Run to benefit area children.
    The run is scheduled to start at Irving Big Stop, located on Route 1 in Houlton, at 10 a.m. Traveling north, the group plans to stop at the Northern Maine Truck Stop, in Blaine, then depart at 11 a.m. as they continue their journey.     Riders will proceed to Presque Isle, with a stop at the Aroostook Centre Mall, leaving at 11:45 a.m. as they continue to their northernmost stop at the Sports Inn, located on Bennett Drive, in Caribou. The group will then reverse direction, heading south by 1 p.m. All times are approximate.
    Participants will return to the Hodgdon Fire Department, where food and beverages will be available for participants.
    Everyone is invited to attend this worthy cause for area children.
    All are welcome to join the fun, be it by bike, car, truck or other modes of transportation. This marks the 19th year the organization is sponsoring the Toy Run and the club wishes to thank everyone for helping with the event.
