Mary Lou Pomeroy and daughter, Jane Foster and a friend from Caribou, Mrs. Rita Braley, have been recent visitors with Riva and Patti Hartin. The group enjoyed lunch together at the Horn Of Plenty restaurant and were joined there with Mrs. Hartin’s son, Wyatt and friend, Kathy.
Roger Webb has returned home after spending a couple of days in Bangor with his brother and wife, Ronald (Junie) Webb and Margaret. He did a little carpentry work for his brother while there and took in some of the stores there also that have carpentry supplies.
While at our local grocery store the other day, owner, Jerry Violette, donated a box of, what he called deer feed, to me and it was filled with old bread and rolls. I was delighted to get it as the deer are still arriving in my back yard about every day despite the fact that it is deer hunting season. One day they were there at noon, but mostly they appear around 4 p.m. and I rush out with my bread and cut-up apples (which were given to me by a friend). The deer family waits patiently, while I throw out the goodies then quickly devour the whole thing.
Yesterday I finally hung out my peanut butter and lard feeder as there are so many birds at my feeder now and they really go for that mixture. I have several gold finch now, and the nut hatches are with us again. I heard from a friend that she had heard of a lady in the area that has seen several cardinals. I wouldn’t mind seeing one or two of them in my yard.
The black cat is still around and I am still leaving food out for him. I have discovered that he belongs to a neighbor, but likes to roam around everywhere. I was glad to hear that as I know that when it gets too cold he will have a warm place to go to.
