It’s a challenge

To the editor:
The Houlton Humane Society has received an interesting proposal. Moose Brook Mechanical in Ludlow has issued a challenge. Jeff and Debbie Boudreau would like to challenge all Houlton area businesses to match their initial donation of $250 followed by a monthly pledge of $25. As they said, “Just the cost of a cup of coffee each day can feed a few of the orphans at the shelter”.
We are encouraged by their support and will begin a “challenge tally”, announcing those who accept this challenge and posting the results at the Shelter and at our regular fund raising functions.
Remember that all donations are tax deductible. It’s getting close to the end of the year, so for those businesses who have earmarked a certain amount of funds for charitable contributions, please keep the shelter in mind. Receipts are available for your records.
The Houlton Humane Society will be selling Christmas trees this season. You may purchase a coupon for a tree at the Homes for the Holidays event on December 6th at Hollywood Pet Salon; however, for those of you who usually put your tree up Thanksgiving weekend, the Shelter will have volunteers taking order forms around to local businesses shortly and you can either order at work, or stop by and see Heather at Modern Beauty Salon on Main Street and you can purchase a ticket directly from her.
Please mark your calendar to stop by Hollywood Pet Salon on December 6th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — there will be homemade pet treats, people treats, silent auctions, an adopt-a-thon, and many other exciting events going on that day.
