Harper marks 95th birthday

    PRESQUE ISLE — Elaine (Peluso) Harper recently celebrated her 95th birthday with a family party.
    Elaine has lived in Presque Isle for her entire life except a few months when her late husband Frank moved the family to Tobique, New Brunswick, Canada, for a few months in 1943 when his job on the Canadian Pacific railroad took him there. They returned to Parkhurst Siding where they lived and raised a family for many years.

    In attendance were her children: Irene DaFonte of Easton, Wayne Harper and wife Sylvia of Presque Isle and Bryan Harper and wife Debbie of Caribou. Grandchildren present were: Leasa (DaFonte) Garvin and husband Michael of Eastport, Janie DaFonte of Pittsfield, Randy Harper and wife Joyce of Presque Isle, Ellen Schneider of Presque Isle, and Tony Harper and wife Sharlene of Caribou. Great-grandchildren in attendance included: Maxwell Curtis, Jeffery Curtis, Kimberly Harper, Kathryn Schneider and Rebecca Harper Karen Page, all from the Presque Isle area. Great-great-grandchildren present were: Harley and Jessica Curtis and Mark Curtis, all from Presque Isle. Sister-in-law Thelma Peluso and nieces Anita Brooker from Westfield and Linda Willette and husband Larry. Also  in attendance: Frank Harper’s niece, Norma Hitchcock and her daughter Alison Baker of Washburn. Friends and neighbors stopped by and greeted Elaine. The family enjoyed a potluck dinner.
