CARIBOU – Madeleine Alward, 80, passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 at her home with her family by her side. She was born March 8, 1928 in Chapman the daughter of Daniel and Mildred (Pelkey) Estabrook. Madeleine was a loving mother and grandmother and spent many hours knitting and crocheting items for family and friends.
Madeleine is survived by six children: Carl Alward and his wife Betty of East Hampton, CT, Merwyn Estabrook and his wife Cathy of Middletown, CT, Linda Scovill and her husband Martin of East Hampton, CT, Gary Alward and a special friend Cindy Camarco of Tolland, CT, Marsha Reilly and her husband David of Colchester, CT, Sherry Alward of Caribou, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sisters: Donna Major and Robertina Trask as well as several nieces and nephews and longtime friends and neighbors: Freeman and Carol Cote. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Leo Alward and two brothers: Clifton and Maxwell Estabrook.
