Image    CONNOR – Henry Merchant, 90, passed away Monday, February 23, 2009 at his residence with his family at his side. He was born July 8, 1918, in Leominister, Mass, the son of Joseph and Regina (Brough) Merchant. Henry worked for many years for area farmers and also as a logger, and loved to fish when he had the opportunity.
    Henry is survived by six children: Eugene Merchant of Clarksville, TN, Leon Merchant and his wife Nancy of Caribou, Carolyn Nadeau and her husband Gary of Attleboro, Mass, David Merchant of Cheyenne, WY, Henry “Hank” Merchant of Camden, Susan Merchant of Connor, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.  He also leaves behind a brother Elmer Merchant of Jefferson, Mass, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife Gertrude (Damboise) Merchant, and several brothers and sisters.  
    Friends called 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou.  Funeral services were conducted 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Aaron Damboise officiating.
