The Southern Aroostook Cultural Arts Project, Pot ‘O Gold dinner was held at the Elks Club this past Saturday evening. Guests enjoyed a social hour with music provided by the Kindred Harps and Irish dinner music with Harrison Roper and Stan Harris.

NEWLY SELECTED — Martha Bell, left and Esther Faulkner both of Houlton have been selected to serve on the board of directors for the Southern Aroostook Cultural Arts Project. The announcement was made at the Pot ‘O Gold dinner held on Saturday evening.
The dining rooms were very festive with St. Patrick’s decorations and many guests sported green as well. Jane Torres and her crew catered the dinner and several Hodgdon JMG students served as waitresses.
There were a variety of prizes awarded during the evening including, gift certificates from various businesses, potatoes, and a gift certificate for a dinner featuring a French menu prepared by Dorothy Fitzpatrick.
Grant Baker of Florida who had purchased his ticket online won the grand-prize, a painting done by local artist Susan J. York. He is now the owner of this colorful acrylic on canvas valued at $300.
Christian Putnam served as emcee for the evening and Robert Cowperthwaite, SACAP board member, welcomed the guests.
Esther Faulkner and Martha Bell were welcomed as new board members for the SACAP organization. They join Susan J. York, president; Audrey Zimmerman, executive director; David Loendorf, Joyce Fitzpatrick, Dale Holden, Iva Sussman, Marilyn Carey and Robert Cowperthwaite.
SACAP is a non-profit group that promotes arts in many forms for the local area. They offer their store, Visions on Main Street for artists to display and sell their art. SACAP sponsors a variety of art related events during the year for students and adults. Watch for the spring opening at Visions and new hours for the upcoming season. WELCOME — Susan J. York, president of the Southern Aroostook Cultural Arts Project welcomed more than 75 guests to the Pot ‘O Gold dinner held at the Houlton Lodge of Elks on Saturday evening. York is also the featured artist on the SACAP Web site.
Several Hodgdon JMG (Jobs for Maine Graduates) students volunteered to serve as waitresses at the dinner. The young ladies pictured above are from left, Sammy Lycette, Katie Duff, Alyssa O’Connell and Heather Rockwell.
