“NESHRM is very happy to present our scholarships to two outstanding students,” said Jennifer Curran, NESHRM president. “One of our organizational goals is to promote the HR profession. These scholarships allow us to help local students pursue careers in the business field. We hope to someday see these students return to our group as business professionals employed by local businesses.”
On Dec. 11, NESHRM officials gathered in the Edmunds Conference Center at Northern Maine Community College to present $500 each to Robinson, a senior in NMCC’s business administration program, and Bria Ryder, a student at UMPI.
“It was an honor to have received this scholarship,” said Robinson, of Masardis. “It means a lot to me to know that my leadership abilities stood out to NESHRM. This has given me the extra confidence to go beyond the abilities I have already acquired and will hopefully prove to make my leadership skills stronger not only for myself in my future work environment, but also for my community.”
As part of the application process, applicants submitted a resume, demonstrated traits of leadership and service to the school and community, and submitted recommendations from instructors. NMCC business administration instructor Pam Crawford recommended Robinson for the NESHRM scholarship.
“In choosing to pursue an associate’s degree while raising her two daughters, Misty has made the commitment to further enhance her learning so that she can become a significant contributor to the economic development of Aroostook County,” said Crawford. “Her work is of the highest caliber. It is a pleasure to work with Misty as she pursues her personal and professional goals.”
