WOODLAND – Louise H. Norsworthy, 91, wife of the late Harold P. Norsworthy, died March 31, 2009 at her residence. She was born at Caribou, January 9, 1918, the daughter of Robert L. and Luda (Goodwin) Powell. She was a graduate of the Caribou high school class of 1935 and a graduate of the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Louise started her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Woodland then at the Woodland Consolidated School until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Caribou, where she was also a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group and the Jennie Lyon Circle. She was a member of the Aroostook Retired Teachers Association, the Caribou Day Extension and the Woodland Historical Society.
Louise is survived by a son and daughter-in-law David and Linda Norsworthy of Woodland; two brothers Keith Powell and Richard Powell and his wife Dawn both of Caribou; two grandchildren Sheila Cyr of Presque Isle and Jennifer Espling and her husband Darrell of Caribou; four great-grandchildren Erica Cyr and Emily Cyr both of Presque Isle and Paige and Caleb Espling both of Caribou; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters Maxine Currie and Meta Golding; a brother Orris Powell; three sisters-in-law Beulah McNeal, Bessie Bird and Amy Ireland.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Pastor Ellen Cleaves, officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Louise may do so to the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church Memorial fund or to the Woodland Historical Society.
