The Aroostook County Farm Bureau and the Aroostook Animal Welfare Awareness Group will hold a training clinic at Rocking S Ranch in Fort Fairfield. There will be two separate sessions on Saturday, Sept., 19 and Sunday, Sept. 20. The trainings will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until 3:30 p.m. at the ranch’s indoor arena.
The clinic is designed to train first responders and local volunteers to deal with large animals in an emergency situation. The instructor will be Vicki Schmidt of Hebron, who specializes in large animal emergency rescue and Firefighter I training programs.
Highlights of the clinic include: How horses and other animals react under stress and during an emergency; tips that better allow you and your animal to survive an emergency; what you can do while waiting for responders and what to expect from responders once they arrive.
Anyone interested in participating in the clinic should call 554-8431 or 425-3770 for more information.
