The Girl Scouts of Maine (GSME) hosted a special event on Sept. 23, at Gentile Hall at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The ‘admission’ to the event was one pair of new socks which was in turn donated to needy in the area.

Those attending had the chance to swim, use the climbing wall, jog around the track, shoot hoops or play volleyball. This event was also a chance for local girls to find out about the many different ways they can participate in scouting and what is available to them as Girl Scouts. They also learned some leadership skills as well as enjoyed lots of energizing fun.
This event was sponsored by GSME and the director of programs for GSME, Samantha Lott Hale, came from the Brewer office to organize the event along with the assistance of Presque Isle Membership Manager Wendy Burtchell.
Girl Scouts is for all girls between the ages of 5 to 17. For more information on scouting, visit www.girlscoutsofmaine.org. Burtchell is the local contact for questions concerning girl scouting membership or volunteering can be reached at wburtchell@gsmaine.org or by phone at 551-1193.
