Captains of the 2009 Caribou varsity soccer teams congratulate Dwight Hunter, left, and Bob White for being honored on the 45th anniversary of organized soccer in Caribou. Hunter, the former long-time athletic director at Caribou High School, was the founder of the Caribou soccer program and was the first coach of the Vikings boys team, while White was a charter member of the Northern Maine Board of Approved Soccer Officials and is still involved with the organization as its secretary/treasurer.

The presentation was made at the Vikings’ Oct. 10 home match against Hermon and was part of Caribou’s Sesquicentennial Celebration.
