The Ricker College Board of Trustees convened for its annual meeting on October 30, at the Courtyard Café in Houlton.
Gary Stairs, chairman of the board, presided over the meeting at which Paul Adams of Houlton, Alison Bossie and Teran Clark both of Linneus were newly elected to the board. Stairs also presented honorary jackets to three members who retired after serving twelve-year terms: Jerry Riley, Pat Chase and Dave Berry.
Elected to serve as officers for 2010 were the following: Gary Stairs, chairman of the board; Judy Metcalf, vice-chair; Betty Stone, secretary, and Woodrow Dunphy, treasurer. Gary Bossie will continue to serve as executive director.
Bossie reported that because of improved market conditions, the Trustees will be able to offer one scholarship to each Aroostook county high school for 2010. The Trustees will continue to pay scholarships already awarded which will amount to $130,000 to be sent to various colleges in January. Since 1985, the board has distributed more than $3 million to assist graduates from area high schools.
The Ricker College Board is a private, non-profit, charitable corporation which administers funds bequeathed to the board for educational purposes.
